Members of the RAF Memorial Flight Official Club will know of wartime veteran Lancaster rear gunner, Flight Sergeant James Flowers, who wrote the ‘Veteran’s Viewpoint’ for the Club 2016 Yearbook. James served with 50 Squadron at the end of the war in Europe and had some hair-raising experiences, some of which he told in his ‘Viewpoint’.
Club member Karen Shortland was the lucky winner of the RAF Memorial Flight Official Club's April ballot prize - an ‘Experience Day’ at the BBMF at RAF Coningsby, which took place on 4th June. Karen and her three guests were permitted access to the RAF Station at Coningsby, with Clive Rowley, a former OC BBMF, as their host for the day.
Historic aircraft and competition cars, classic road cars and military machines will converge on Bicester Heritage in Oxfordshire for the weekend of 2-3 July, when Flywheel returns to the UK’s best-preserved Second World War bomber station.
