MBE for Dunc Mason
Former Officer Commanding the BBMF, Squadron Leader Dunc Mason, has been appointed as a MBE in the New Year’s Honours List.
An ex-Harrier pilot and ex-Red Arrow, Dunc served with the BBMF as a fighter pilot for seven years from 2009. He was the Officer Commanding from 2013 to 2015, display seasons in which there were major events with heavy BBMF participation every year. The 2013 season included the major commemorations for the 70th anniversary of the ‘Dams Raid’. 2014 saw the 70th anniversary commemorations of D-Day and also the incredible ‘Two Lancasters’ displays with the visit of the Canadian Lancaster ‘Vera’ to the UK. In his final season with the Flight, Dunc led the BBMF’s participation in the commemorations of the 75th anniversary of the Battle of Britain.
Dunc handed over command of the BBMF to Squadron Leader Andy ‘Milli’ Millikin in October 2015. He is now the Officer Commanding Advanced Squadron, Central Flying School Examination Wing, flying all of the RAF’s advanced training aircraft including the new Hawk T2.
Heartiest congratulations to Dunc on his extremely well deserved award.
