About the prizes
For the first time, the best of Philip E West’s magnificent paintings have been collected in a luxury hardback book, Aviation Masterworks. Philip is recognised as one of the world's finest aviation artists, known for his renditions of Phantoms, Avro Lancasters and Supermarine Spitfires in particular. Philip's knowledge of aircraft and the accuracy of his work combine to record a moment in history so perfectly, that viewers are able to feel a real sense of the excitement and drama that his work portrays.
Priced at £40, copies of Aviation Masterworks can be purchased online and until the end of February 2019, a free copy of 100 Years of the Royal Air Force (worth £9.99) will be included with each order.
100 Years of the Royal Air Force is a fast-paced and authoritative account of the history, the aeroplanes, the technology and the people who have flown and fought for the service and it is illustrated with more than 150 images from a wide variety of sources. It tells of the early days when the RAF was formed from the merger of the RFC and the RNAS; the fight to stay independent in the inter-war years; the vitally important battles fought during the Second World War - the Battle of Britain, the bomber campaign, Coastal Command’s fight to maintain Britain’s sea lanes and the tireless work of Transport Command.
