Club prizes and winners – April to June 2023

All members of the RAF Memorial Flight Official Club are automatically entered into our monthly prize ballots to win some special prizes. These were the ballot prizes for the months of April to June 2023 and the lucky Club members who won them:

April ballot prize – Tickets for Battle Proms picnic concerts

In April three lucky Club members each won a pair of tickets to one of the Battle Proms picnic concerts. The lucky winners were able to choose from four fabulous concert venues in July.

Battle Proms are spectacular concerts with sublime music and dramatic displays, all set within stunning stately home gardens. From toe-tapping vintage vocals warming up the crowd to a full orchestral performance of classic favourites, Battle Proms are a musical extravaganza not to be missed, complemented by breath-taking parachute, cavalry, cannon and firework displays. The audience is also treated to a meticulously choreographed aerial display by the iconic Grace Spitfire, which dances in the skies above the concert to the opening pieces of the orchestral performance, a memorable and emotional addition to the quintessentially British summer celebration.

Winners:         Chris Nussey from Norfolk

                        Philip Bedford from Bedfordshire

                        Richard Horton from Gloucestershire

May ballot prize – Internal tour of the BBMF Lancaster

In May one lucky Club member won a ‘money cannot buy it’ opportunity to experience what it is like inside BBMF Lancaster PA474, one of only two airworthy Lancasters in the world.

Climbing into the BBMF Lancaster and clambering up to the cockpit is a once in a lifetime opportunity, which is made available to very few people. The prize winner and guests are able to experience the cramped interior of the Lancaster and view the cockpit, with a BBMF guide to explain it all.

Winner:           Julie Lane from Essex

June ballot prize – BBMF Spitfire cockpit experience

In June one lucky Club member won another ‘money cannot buy it’ opportunity to experience what it is like to sit in the cockpit of a BBMF Spitfire.

The winner will climb into the cockpit of one of the BBMF’s airworthy Spitfires at the Flight’s home at RAF Coningsby and the controls and instrumentation will be explained. The winner is allowed to bring up to three guests to take photographs and to share in the experience of a ‘behind the scenes’ tour of the BBMF hangar, with a guide who has flown the Flight’s Spitfires.

Winner:           Rebecca Cooper from London
