The RAF Memorial Flight Official Club office has been receiving a number of calls from people asking for the latest information about the BBMF Visitor Centre.
The BBMF Visitor Centre at the Flight’s home at RAF Coningsby, Lincolnshire, remains open to visitors with hangar tours available.
The BBMF Visitor Centre is open Monday to Friday from 10am to 5pm, excluding Bank Holidays. Free parking is available. Hangar tours begin at 10.30am. The last tour is at 3pm from November to the end of February and 3.30pm from March to October. The Visitor Centre is fully accessible, but only manual wheelchairs are accepted in the hangar (two are available to borrow).
At present the total number of visitors on each hangar tour is limited to 10 per tour, to permit social distancing. Six slots on each hangar tour can be pre-booked online via the BBMF Visitor Centre website here. Tours are also available to visitors who walk in to the Centre as long as space remains.
With the recent change in COVID restrictions in England, introduced in January, face masks are no longer mandatory on hangar tours.
Until the end of March the BBMF’s Lancaster, Dakota, five of its Spitfires and Hurricane PZ865 will usually be available to view in the hangar. From early April the Dakota is expected to be at Duxford for the remainder of the year, whilst Hurricane LF363 should return from Biggin Hill in its new 303 Kosciuszko (Polish) Squadron colour scheme. Flying activity by the BBMF aircraft will increase from April, as the Flight’s pre-season work-up gets under way. It is possible to view the aircraft coming and going from outside the hangar.
Hangar tours are free to members of the RAF Memorial Flight Official Club on production of a valid membership card on arrival. Admission charges apply to non-members.
