Official Club calendar 2024 – August photo

During 2024 we are presenting the image from the Club calendar in the newsletter for that month, with some details about the picture, including when and where the photo was taken. This month we feature the superb picture taken by Club member Chris Booth of the iconic BBMF Lancaster, Hurricane and Spitfire three-ship formation, which we used for August.

In this picture BBMF Lancaster PA474 is flanked by Hurricane Mk II LF363 (left of picture) and Spitfire IIa P7350 (right of picture). We chose the photo for the calendar because it showed the classic BBMF formation, seen by so many over the years and featured in the Flight’s official badge, and there was also some nice prop blur.

Chris tells us: “This photo was taken at the 2022 BBMF Members’ Day with a Nikon D7200 and a 70-300mm lens. With the formation coming directly towards me, I had to pick the right moment to get them all in the frame. It turned out that I had and the light was spot on too. It looks even better on the calendar!”
