Club prizes and winners – July to September 2019
The RAF Memorial Flight Official Club holds monthly prize ballots for some wonderful prizes. All Club members are automatically entered into these prize ballots and between July and September this year several lucky members have won some truly superb prizes. In addition, there were further bonus prizes on offer each month.
These were the Club prizes and winners for July to September 2019:
July ballot prize – A Mosquito Experience Day
The marvellous prize for July was a ticket to an exclusive Mosquito Experience Day at the Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre on Friday 6th September 2019. The day would usually cost £75.00 and gave the lucky winner the chance to get close to Mosquito HJ711, to view the cockpit and watch it taxying.

August ballot prize – A weekend break at Saunton Sands Beach Villas
The ballot prize for August offered the lucky winner a wonderful weekend break for four at the Saunton Beach Villas, in North Devon, on a weekend of the winner’s choice from September to December 2019.

September ballot prize – A Spitfire simulator flight
The prize for September was a 30-minute Spitfire simulator flight at the Spitfire and Hurricane Memorial Museum. The museum is located at the historic RAF airfield at Manston in Kent and is also home to Spitfire MK XVI (LF) TB752 and Hurricane IIC LF751. The Experience features a 1/1 scale reproduction of the cockpit of the Museum’s Spitfire TB752, complete with the correct controls and instruments. ‘Pilots’ get a very realistic sense of what it would have been like to fly a Spitfire, thanks to the large HD screens and authentic controls.

Bonus prizes
In addition to the fantastic ballot prizes for Club members, there were also additional bonus prizes on offer each month from July to September.
July bonus prize – A family ticket for the Victory Show
A lucky winner received a free family ticket for The Victory Show, at Cosby, Leicestershire, on Saturday 7th and Sunday 8th September. The family ticket was valid for up to two adults and three children and would usually have cost £60. The Victory Show is the country’s largest WWII weekend and features an impressive line-up of aircraft, as well as the largest re-enactment battle of its kind in the UK, plus model aircraft, boats, military vehicles, tanks and the largest collection of 1940s living history displays in the UK.

August bonus prize – Copy of ‘D-Day: From the Invasion to Liberation of Paris’
Three lucky people won a copy of the book ‘D-Day: From the Invasion to the Liberation of Paris’ by Richard Holmes, RRP £30, in which the author highlights the sheer scale and details of the invasion, with reproductions of more than 25 rare documents such as maps, diaries, secret memos, reports and logbooks.

September bonus prize – A family ticket for the D-Day Story, Portsmouth
The lucky winner received a family ticket for the D-Day Story, a new museum in Portsmouth. The family ticket is valid for up to two adults and three children and would usually cost £25. The D-Day Story has recently re-opened following a £5 million transformation project (supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund). The museum tells the story of D-Day from the preparation and build up, to the landings on the beaches in northern France and through the Battle of Normandy. Through dynamic displays of the D-Day beaches and iconic landing craft the visitor is transported back to the Battle of Normandy.
