Official Club calendar 2025 – April photo

During 2025 we are presenting the image from the Club calendar in the newsletter for that month, with some details about the picture, including when and where the photo was taken. All the photos in the calendar were taken by Club members.

For April we chose this dramatic picture of BBMF Lancaster PA474 thundering off from the runway at Coningsby, taken from a very unusual angle, head-on and directly beneath it. This photo was entered into the calendar photo competition by Club member Paul Norman.

Paul tells us: “This was just an impulse trip up to the base at RAF Coningsby for me on 7th May 2023, with fingers crossed that the BBMF would be active; if not I could always pop into the BBMF Visitor Centre Cafe for a coffee and cake. This picture was taken that afternoon with ideal weather and light, using a Sony A9 camera combined with a Sony 70 - 200 F/2.8 lens and shot at 200mm focal length at F/13, with 1/200 exposure at ISO 100.”
