Official BBMF Yearbook 2016 – out now!
The Official RAF Memorial Flight Club Yearbook for 2016 is now out. The 80-page Club magazine is packed with stunning photographs – many of them previously unpublished – and fascinating feature articles.
This year we celebrate the anniversaries of two world-changing events: 80 years since the maiden flight of the Spitfire in March 1936 and 75 years since the first prototype Lancaster took to the air in 1941. Both of these immensely important occurrences are covered in the yearbook.
There are also the regular features of the BBMF yearbooks, with a ‘Veteran’s Viewpoint’ from a Lancaster rear gunner with some amazing stories to tell, ‘Lest we forget’ reminding us that the BBMF commemorates all those lost in service with the RAF in all conflicts not just World War Two, ‘Keeping ’em Flying’ getting behind the scenes with the BBMF engineers, and the ‘Meet the Team’ section showcasing the BBMF team for 2016.
The ‘Focus on…’ series continues with the BBMF C-47 Dakota as the subject aircraft. The detailed story behind the new colour scheme for Spitfire PR Mk XIX PS915 is also featured. In addition, the courageous exploits of the fighter pilots of RAF Fighter Command going on the offensive 75 years ago, in 1941, are also commemorated in ‘Rhubarbs, Rodeos and Circuses’.
The BBMF Yearbook is not on sale; it will be posted out to current members of the RAF Memorial Flight Club in the next few weeks. Join the Club today to make sure you receive a copy.
